Orange EV and Kalmar Ottawa Team Up on Zero-Emission, Electric Terminal Tractor

KANSAS CITY, MO – March 24, 2015 – Kalmar Ottawa and Orange EV announced today that they are collaborating to deliver zero-emission, electric terminal tractors. Kalmar Ottawa has tested many alternative-fuel trucks in the past, but Orange EV’s T-Series is the first and only one to match the power and reliability for which Kalmar Ottawa is known. Based on customer demand for emission-free freight logistics, the companies are collaborating on the use of Orange EV’s technology in the Kalmar Ottawa T2 terminal tractor.

Kalmar Ottawa invented the terminal tractor in 1958 and has sold more than twice as many trucks as its competitors combined. Kalmar Ottawa is known as the market leader in product innovation.

Power, Endurance and Sustainability: T-Series Supports 24 x 7 Operations Cost Effectively

The T-Series has been tested and proven in a range of fleet operating environments including LTL freight transportation, distribution, manufacturing and intermodal services. Customer demonstrations onsite with national brand leaders showed that an electric terminal tractor can reliably do the job of current diesel trucks while delivering far greater environmental and financial value.   Drivers consistently favor the T-Series for its simplified operations and driver comfort where noise, vibration, heat and emissions are eliminated or greatly reduced.  Significant savings in fuel, maintenance and other costs result in a lower total cost of ownership.

 

Incentive programs can reduce purchase price to at or below that of a new diesel.  The T-Series remains the only terminal tractor solution that qualifies for financial incentives through Drive Clean Chicago (DCC). The incentive amounts recently increased to $150,000 per truck, directly reducing the price to end customers in the City of Chicago and its six counties: Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will. The T-Series is available in on-road and off-road configurations. Both versions are approved for DCC incentives at the $150,000 level.  Similar incentive programs exist in other locations nationwide, most notably California and Texas.

The T-Series zero-emission electric terminal tractor is traveling to user-experience events in the coming weeks. BONITA SPRINGS, Flor.,–  Over 100 Kalmar Ottawa dealers, spouses and guests recently met at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa to reconnect and prepare for selling the all new T2. Formally unveiled at their 2014 dealer meeting, in Phoenix, Arizona, the Kalmar Ottawa T2 terminal tractor is now a reality and in full production at the manufacturing facility in Ottawa, Kansas.

 

The 2015 meeting theme was “Time to Deliver.” From advertising and marketing, to financing, rental programs and online tools, Kalmar Ottawa laid out its strategy and resources to help dealers successfully go to market with the T2.  One of the key assets provided to dealers was the 2015 Kalmar Ottawa Dealer Playbook, packed with sales strategies, ad templates, direct mail, online ad templates, customizable flyers, rental programs, parts programs, financing and more. “We wanted to provide a practical, one-stop guide to selling the T2, said Bob McTernan, marketing and dealer operations manager. “The Kalmar Ottawa Dealer Playbook puts the answers at our dealers’ fingertips.” In addition to the printed Playbook, Kalmar Ottawa Dealers can also access best practices videos, parts, warranty, sales and technical information through the dealer secure website.

 

Keynote Speaker, Bob Costello

Guest speaker, Chief Economist and Vice President of the American Trucking Association, Bob Costello, explained that 2015 promises to be the best year in a decade for transportation and, in particular, for equipment sales. According to Mr. Costello, three key indicators drive this forecast: New housing starts are on the rise, manufacturing is expected to grow and consumers will be willing to spend more in 2015.

 

Record Setting Sales Event

The Kalmar Ottawa Dealer Meeting finished with a bang, when dealers purchased a record 512 new T2 terminal tractors at the ever-popular sales event. “I thought last year was amazing when we sold 400 terminal tractors, said Dave Wood, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Terminal Tractors Americas Region. “ I was truly amazed and humbled at the strong response to the T2.  Our dealers are the best!”

 

Kalmar Ottawa Announces Premier Partner Wounded Warrior Project Donation at Annual Dealer Meeting

When an American-made product meets corporate responsibility, the result is a new supportive relationship between Kalmar Ottawa and The Wounded Warrior Project.

 

BONITA SPRINGS, Flor.,– Kalmar Ottawa established an important new partnership at its national dealer meeting in January, that helps wounded military veterans and their families.  The Premier Partner Wounded Warrior Award is a donation, made in the name of a top-performing Kalmar Ottawa dealer. The Wounded Warrior Project generates awareness and public assistance for the needs of injured service members. It also provides unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.  The donation was made this year in the name of Kalmar Ottawa and Wiese USA, a dealer that achieved Premier Partner status for their locations in Arkansas and in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Premier Partner Award recognizes dealers for excellence based on an evaluation of their performance in a variety of areas. The evaluation covers everything from sales to parts, inventory levels and service capabilities. Winners were selected based on their outstanding performance in all dealership departments. In addition, winning dealers met or exceeded annual Premier Partner sales goals-typically 20 percent higher than their base objectives. For 2014, Kalmar Ottawa recognized a record 14 dealers with Premier Partner Status.
